The Washington International Relations Conference (WIRC) is a one-day conference featuring workshops (WIRCshops), keynote speakers, and a simulation to help your delegates gain exposure to what Model UN is truly about and develop skills to be a more successful delegate. Held both virtually and in person to make the conference as accessible as possible, WIRC is dedicated to enhancing the experience of Model UN and international relations for high school advisors and students across the country. Whether it’s your first conference or your twentieth, WIRC has something for you.

We recognize the strength of Model UN as a form of empowerment for students growing into themselves. At WIRC, we strive to provide a place where students can focus on this growth through learning prior to competition. Through WIRCshops taught by our award-winning American University Model UN delegates and experienced conference staffers, realistic committee simulations, and an open-minded, non-judgemental environment, we offer an unparalleled opportunity for students to learn from the best.

Further, we are rooted in an understanding of the need for accessible and affordable Model United Nations training for young students. Every student who desires it should have access to an environment in which they can learn how to be the best version of themselves as a delegate, student, and person. Therefore, we have committed to creating a WIRC which gives every student this chance. We want to see every student transform from a novice to a force in their committees, and we are incredibly excited to be a part of that transformation.

After a successful hybrid workshop and conference last year, we are now proud to officially launch the date of our twelfth iteration, WIRC XII, on November 9, 2024.
